{"id":177,"date":"2019-08-19T13:45:28","date_gmt":"2019-08-19T17:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/?p=177"},"modified":"2019-08-19T13:45:29","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T17:45:29","slug":"pay-or-play-employer-mandate-will-have-a-new-figure-decrease-in-2020-from-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/pay-or-play-employer-mandate-will-have-a-new-figure-decrease-in-2020-from-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Pay or Play employer mandate will have a new figure Decrease in 2020 from 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Under the employer shared responsibility (&#8220;pay or play&#8221;) provisions of the Affordable Care Act, applicable large employers \u2014generally those who have <strong>50 or more full-time employees<\/strong> (including full-time equivalent employees)\u2014may be subject to a penalty if they do not offer <strong>affordable coverage<\/strong> that provides minimum value to their full-time employees and their dependents.<\/p><br><br>\n<p><br \/>For plan years beginning in 2020, the Internal Revenue Service has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-drop\/rp-19-29.pdf\">announced<\/a> that coverage will generally be considered affordable if the employee&#8217;s required contribution for the lowest-cost self-only health plan offered is <strong>9.78% or less of his or her household income<\/strong> for the taxable year.
