{"id":91,"date":"2019-06-24T14:38:37","date_gmt":"2019-06-24T18:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/?p=91"},"modified":"2019-07-02T15:29:34","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T19:29:34","slug":"__trashed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/__trashed\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder: UnitedHealthcare\/Oxford adds Shingrix vaccine to preventive benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Shingles vaccine is included as a covered benefit for certain customers and is available in network through most physicians offices, urgent care centers and convenience care clinics.<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>On Oct. 20, 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the new shingles vaccine, Shingrix<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, for the prevention of herpes zoster in adults ages 50 years and older. On Jan. 26, 2018, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations on Shingrix were adopted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with its publication in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR).<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the ACIP recommendation, Shingrix is:<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recommended for healthy adults ages 50 years and older to prevent shingles and related complications;<\/li><li>Recommended for adults who previously received the Zostavax<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;shingles vaccine to prevent shingles and related complications; and<\/li><li>The preferred vaccine for preventing shingles and related complications.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Network coverage at no cost share<\/strong><\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>For non-grandfathered, fully insured and self-funded customers that follow UnitedHealthcare standard preventive services benefits, Shingrix was included as a covered benefit beginning April 1, 2018.<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>Shingrix is paid as preventive under the medical benefit, not the pharmacy benefit.<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>ACIP has not recommended Shingrix for individuals ages 49 and younger.<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Coverage for the Shingrix vaccine at no cost share is available in network through most:<\/strong><\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Physician\u2019s offices.<\/li><li>Urgent care centers.<\/li><li>National convenience care clinics*:<\/li><li>MinuteClinic<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0located in CVS<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, Target<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0and Longs Drugs<\/li><li>Walgreens<sup>\u00ae\u00a0<\/sup>Healthcare Clinic<\/li><li>RediClinic<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0located in Rite Aid<sup>\u00ae\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>and H-E-B<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/li><li>The Little Clinic<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0located in Kroger<sup>\u00ae\u00a0<\/sup><\/li><li><sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Walmart<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Care Clinic &#8211; National retail pharmacies* that are contracted to administer the vaccine.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*&nbsp;Eligible members may show their health plan ID cards to receive the Shingrix vaccine on a walk-in basis from these national providers.<\/em><br><\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"486\" height=\"266\" src=\"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Screen-Shot-2019-06-24-at-2.48.31-PM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-99\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Screen-Shot-2019-06-24-at-2.48.31-PM.png 486w, https:\/\/seidenbenefits.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Screen-Shot-2019-06-24-at-2.48.31-PM-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>** Shingrix is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/885637\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FDA approved<\/a>&nbsp;and recommended by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/887626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACIP<\/a>&nbsp;for use in immunocompetent adults aged 50 and older.<\/em><\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>Refer to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhcprovider.com\/content\/dam\/provider\/docs\/public\/policies\/comm-medical-drug\/preventive-care-services.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UnitedHealthcare Preventive Care Services Coverage Determination Guideline<\/a>&nbsp;for a list of vaccines and supporting information that are covered at no cost share.<\/p><br><br>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Source: United Healthcare, February 10, 2018<\/strong><\/h5>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Shingles vaccine is included as a covered benefit for certain customers and is available in network through most physicians offices, urgent care centers and convenience care clinics.
